  1. I use AZ STRs every winter for 4 months. If they weren’t available I’d spend my winters in another state. I spend lots of money when I’m in AZ. If I didn’t come businesses and the city/state would lose revenue.

    1. John – regarding AZ losing revenue if STRs were banned:
      – The numbers are quite clear that an actual resident pays more in sales, property and income taxes than an STR pays in taxes – so there is a clear economic benefit to eliminating STRs
      – STRs are responsible for 16x as many police calls as actual residents. Eliminating STRs would save towns and cities money (and the nuisance).
      – 84% of people living next to STRs would prefer an actual neighbor to STR transients. Eliminating STRs clearly improves the quality of life for actual residents.
So on behalf of actual Arizona residents that would prefer higher revenues, lower costs and better quality of life, thanks for taking your STR business elsewhere.

  2. While I am aware that Short Term Rentals make money, it really is detrimental to homeowners who sought to live in a nice, quiet neighborhood. The house behind me in North Scottsdale is a STR. One night recently, the tenants staying at this STR had a gun fight in the middle of the street. Hundreds of rounds BULLETS flew putting everyone on the block at risk for their lives. Their cars were damaged by bullet holes. This is a neighborhood where homeowners have property values of approximately $500,000+. Now, these homeowners live in fear, through no fault of their own. Please STOP these STRs. They are ruining AZ. Have people stay at Marriott, Westin, Hilton and so forth. These places have rules and amenities which bring tourists to AZ. The STR are often used as ‘Party houses’. The owners are not present. They collect exorbitant fees and close their eyes. STOP this practice. It is a danger to Az’s law abiding citizens.
